My seminar is centered on issues related to international business. However, because my research interest is focused on human resource management I plan to devote more specifically a large part of the time to study problems closely connected to the management of human resource in an international environment. I would like to have the students to read and analyze texts in English and Japanese dealing with a number of issues to whom multinational companies must answer in their daily management of people and that they have to integrate into their worldwide strategy. It goes from the recruitment and selection of foreign personnel to the development of appropriate career development, evaluation and reward systems. As possible (depending on the number and level of the students) I would like the students to study in groups a number of case studies from which we could discuss the issues from a practical point of view.
I expect the students to be able to read English at a level that allows English language material to be utilized efficiently.
